milk products as part of diet

Very!  Especially for those who don’t like consuming milk. We all know how important milk is. But then there are people like me who do recognize the benefits of milk but don’t really like to consume it.  For them, the dairy products are like a blessing in disguise.

Sure, in a lot of other foods calcium can be found apart from dairy products, but still the later is found to be the leading contributor of calcium and vitamin D. In fact, milk products offer up to 16 essential nutrients which include magnesium, protein, bone-building phosphorus and much more.

Considering the number of nutrients milk products offer, they come with multiple health benefits. Any milk and milk products are associated with improved bone health, particularly in children and adolescents, type 2 diabetes, lower blood pressure in adults and reduced risk of cardiovascular disease. In a  recent scientific report, presented by the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee 2015 it was acknowledged that dairy’s health benefits do include lower risks of diabetes and metabolic syndrome, obesity and cardiovascular disease.

Also, the dairy industry is committed to food sustainability, which means providing consumers with nutritious dairy products, which affects communities positively both economically and environmentally. Besides, dairy foods are an affordable source of nutrition and are easily accessible. Pasteurized milk and milk products are of the highest quality foods. This is because during processing strict food safety controls are conducted at every stage, ensuring delivery of quality products.

Significantly, the dairy case has something or the other for everyone like skim milk, flavored milk, lactose-free milk, cultured milk, natural and processed cheese, lower sodium cheese and yogurts including Greek yogurt and reduced-sugar yogurt, ice creams and gelatos. In short, they are versatile. They can be consumed during meals and snacks and can be coupled with foods too. Interestingly, they are used in cooking.
