So, you have a proper business plan to set up your dairy farming business? Well, let me tell you, only that wouldn’t help you to be successful. The majority of the success depends upon the Indian farmers. Therefore, you need to see if they are aware of the modern farming methods. Almost all the areas in India are suitable for dairy farming, so you need not worry about that. But then why a few businessmen are losing their investment instead of deriving benefits? A recent study has shown that still now farmers are using traditional methods. The reason of this could be lack of awareness. In order to experience tremendous growth and profit, you will first need to imbibe the know-how of modern dairy farming techniques in your farmers. Let’s see what does it includes;
- Good Housing: For better milk you should give sufficient space to live to your animals. Typically, 40 square feet inside, whereas 80 square feet outside space is needed for each animal. A farm sheltering 20 animals must have a minimum land area of 3000 square feet. On the other hand, to support 100 animals, a farm must have 13,000 to 15,000 square feet of space. Also, ensure it has essential facilities, which includes sufficient flow of clean and fresh air and proper ventilation.
- Nutritious Feeding: Provide as much as green food possible alongside their regular food. This way the animals will be able to produce more milk while helping the producer to lessen the feeding costs. Also, try to make place for cattle grazing, if possible. Similarly, make sure you provide them with at least five liters of water to produce one liter milk.
- Care and Management: You must ensure that all your animals are vaccinated timely. Provide them with nutritious food as well as clean them with water regularly. Additionally, you must keep a stock of all necessary medicines.
- Make the Farmers Aware about the Total Expenditure: Most Indian farmers are not serious about the expenditure the business is making or the profit it is earning. Even, they don’t really count the value of green food. Therefore, awareness must be created amongst them to help them see things and grow crops using the modern techniques.
Aside, the breeding process should be taken care of too. The milk production depends a lot on this biological phenomenon that again farmers are not conscious about.
