Feeling hungry? This after-office hunger kills I tell you, especially when you are too reluctant to make something. But you cannot eat out all the time, right? Well, these two dahi delicacies are good to go. In fact, they can be prepared in 30 minutes, provided you have the basic ingredients ready. Have a look;

1. Tadka Dahi
Cooking Time: 20 minutes+ time to drain water from curd
Ingredients:

  • Curd: 3 cups
  • Chopped onion: 1 cup
  • Chopped tomato: 1 tsp
  • Ginger-garlic paste: 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds: 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder: 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves
  • Chopped green chillies: 2 tsp
  • Chopped coriander: 3 tsp
  • Chopped ginger: 1 tsp
  • Crushed whole coriander seeds: 1 tsp
  • Kasoori methi powder
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  • Put the curd in a clean, white cloth or in a strain so as to drain the water.
  • Now, prepare the masala separately by tempering mustard seeds to the heated oil. Then add turmeric powder, kasoori methi powder, garam masala, red chilli powder and salt and cook for a few minutes.
  • Once the masala is ready add onion, tomato, ginger, coriander, green chilli and whole spices and sauté.
  • It’s time to add hung curd and stir. Garnish it with chopped curry leaves and fresh coriander and serve hot.

2. Dahi Vada
Cooking Time: 30 minutes+ time for soaking
Ingredients:

  • Dhuli urad ki daal (husked black gram): 1 cup; Soak it for at least 5 to 6 hours to make a paste. You can do it before leaving for office and when you return just make the paste in a mixer and you will be good to go.
  • Yogurt-beaten smooth: 2 1/2 cups
  • Salt: 2 tsp
  • Roasted and powdered cumin seeds: 2 tsp
  • Chopped coriander leaves: 2 tbsp
  • Black pepper: 1/4 tsp
  • Chilli powder: 1/2 tsp
  • Black rock salt: 1 tsp
  • Chaat masala for garnishing

Method:

  • Beat daal to make it more light and fluffy. Give them a shape of wadas and fry till they turn golden brown.
  • Now that the wadas are ready to mix beat the yogurt and add cumin, black pepper, salt and coriander leaves.
  • Arrange the fried wadas and pour the yogurt mix. Add black rock salt, chili powder, coriander leaves, chaat masala and cumin powder for garnishing.
